"The surest way to tell the prostitute walking into a hotel is to look for the lady in the designer suit. Fact."

From Belle Du Jour. Diary of a London Call girl.

Now where does that leave us Shidduch Maidels?

Better stick to the Marriott, girls, and not venture into the Ritz-Calrton, at least not in your best black suit. Don't want to give some gentlemen the wrong impression.

  1. If you think about it, they're not all too different:
-You can't call it a date, you barely only have a couple of drinks.
-It's mostly just a brief encounter.
-You'll probably never see the guy again.
-And you'll do this all over again, probably a couple of times a week.

    :)

Cute post. But what books do you read?

  2. Oh! I love Belle du Jour!

That's it. We just gotta do shidduchim the way I did it. Meet the guy in your pajamas and pout becuase he stared at your bald head and then let him make it up to you by driving you to appointments and then puke in his brand new car and then marry him.

  3. and don't forget it's all set up by a discreet third party. who requires payment for their services.

Sorry if I offended some people. but wandering around, in heels and makeup, alone and unescorted, in a hotel lobby, waiting for a stranger I've never met before to arrive, all this after fending off catcalls by the arab workers outside, and avoiding the eyes of a middle aged businessman who decides to sit on the sofa next to me, does bring to mind the above reference. Maybe it's time to change the system?
