I once explained to my father that I wouldn't be caught dead in something because it looks ridiculous. He paused, puzzled, and answered, "Isn't that fashion?"

Basically, if you're pretty and well turned out, it doesn't matter if you're wearing a flapper dress or a shoulder-padded feminist work suit. You look pretty.

However, from the female pov - I detest the safety pin "tznius button" look. The shirt wasn't meant to lay that way. And it looks all wrong. I never buy a button up unless it's got a built in tznius button.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4538026753449287703.post-63290431802112131292009-12-17T21:11:07.633+02:002009-12-17T21:11:07.633+02:00I don't mean to sound all spiritual, or lofty ...I don't mean to sound all spiritual, or lofty and egotistical, I do indeed think most guys would agree with me.

Fine, I don't know if I'd put just-woken-up,-puffy-faced-red-runny-nosed in quite the same category as red-carpet fabulous. But honestly it isn't an ocean away either.

I can't speak for the girls (although I'd be curious to hear their opinion too), but for the guys... clothing doesn't maketh the woman. That resisting yeshiva guynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4538026753449287703.post-22724465068966013532009-12-17T17:21:02.912+02:002009-12-17T17:21:02.912+02:00Do you expect me to believe that if I looked as th...Do you expect me to believe that if I looked as though I've rolled out of bed with a runny nose and thick glasses you don't see me any differently than if I wore pore-hiding makeup with blown hair and fabulous clothing?

Hah! She says that in "At the Bus Stop". She wants to finish studying first. But you're right- a lot isn't clear yet.

I'm thinking of writing a FAQs post, explaining what's going on. The fact that this is being written scene by scene means it's not so clear sometimes. What do you think?

Dear resisting Yeshiva Guy- Shulamit is speaking, not me! Dress shape, hem type, whatever. It can be a modern dress-suit or a wrinkled sweatshirt and casual skirt; it can be frizzy, messy hair and no make-up. The clothing and look is not what makes or breaks the impression. It maight add a bit to the look, but it really is not a major factor at all! It's far more just from the look of you, the person. And how you conduct yourself.

Any "Yeshiva guy that would be unable to turn down a girl only because she looks irresistible in some outfit", is not someone that you should be hoping to marry. One of those resisting yeshiva guysnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4538026753449287703.post-37298933359644625802009-12-16T18:33:58.842+02:002009-12-16T18:33:58.842+02:00I'm getting hooked.
